"There's Still Hope"
Water Color
11"x 15"  mixed media paper.
I started painting this at midnight as soon as it turned July 4th 2013. It took till 3:30 AM or so to finish it. The next morning I awoke to admire my work, that's when I realized I had painted too many stripes in the middle fold. This is one of the problems with staying up late to do a painting. I quickly renamed that painting the dream is flawed and repainted it. When I finished I went tubing and hung out by the pool overlooking Ross Barnett. It was a great Fourth of July.

"Pride Of Mississippi"
Water Color
11"x 15"  water color paper
The first place of residence of my own I said I was going to paint a magnolia to go over the couch ( as a good Mississippian would). I never got around to it. I said this with every place I lived since then and still never got around to it. When I decided to release prints of some of my paintings I knew I had to paint a magnolia for my first collection. I finally got around to it.

"Lakeshore View"
Water Color & Ink
11"x 15"  water color paper
I have had the pleasure of living at Lakeshore Point Apartments from 2012 to 2014. While there I met a lot of great people. Some of the best times I had were down by the pool with many of these friends. I called them Lakeshore friends. Most every evening we got to enjoy some of the greatest sunsets you could imagine. This painting is a representation of these sunsets.

"Cypress Sunrise"

Water Color & Ink

11"x 15"  water color paper
This one was inspired by a combination of an early morning kayaking trip and a painting I painted for my father over a decade ago. A friend and I set out for an  early morning kayaking trip at Rivers Bend on the Pearl River off the Natchez Trace. Besides just kayaking his primary intent was to fish and mine was to take pictures and chase down alligators. In our attempts we found ourselves deep in a cypress forest swamp. We both set there for a good long time just enjoying the sight.

"Tony The Fisherman"
oil

16x 20 stretched canvas
This is the first oil I have painted since I returned to my art in 2013. This painting was inspired by several kayaking trips with my friend Toney Bacher. Most every trip he tried to do a little fishing. The scenery for this painting was a scene on the pearl river north of the Ross Barnett on an early morning trip. I was able to finish this painting the day before Tony moved. Sold-No Prints Available

"Starry Night Over Ross Barnett study"

oil

18" x 24" stretched canvas
( A tribute to Vincent van Gogh)

We spent a lot of time down by the pool at Lakeshore Point Apartments, a lot. So much so it goes on into the night. Every night you can look across the water and see the restaurant lights reflecting off the water. I often thought of Vincent  van Goghs "Starry Night Over the Rohne". So I painted this as a tribute an artist that has always been an inspiration. However after painting Starry Sky over Ross Barnett at a different angle I plan on painting this again at that same angle.

"Huricanado Coming"

Oil

18' x 24" stretched canvas

Now and then while down by the water at Lakeshore Point Apartments we are sent seeking shelter from a passing storm. One of these times a friend (Justin Smith) did a fake news broadcast, referring to the storm as a schedule 4 Huricanado. It was recorded by another in the group and went Lakeshore viral.. I latter found out the term was originally coined by Josh Broome. Both these guys are nuts and a blast to be around.

"Starry Sky Over Ross Barnett"

oil

18" x 24" stretched canvas

After painting " Starry Night over Ross Barnett" I wanted to paint  this scene in my style. This time I chose a different angle in order to capture more lights. Something I wish I had done with "Starry Night Over Ross Barnett".

"Impossible Shadow "
Ink
18" x 24" Mixed media paper
I once heard this as the title of a poem or book, not sure which one. With this in mind and seeing all the wonderful sunsets at Lakeshore. I conceived this painting as a geometrical abstract sunset. Its easy to contemplate the depth of its meaning.

"Half a Dozen Roses"

Ink

18' x 24" Mixed media paper
One of my Lakeshore friends was a model (September Riley). I had an idea for a painting that she would have been perfect for. In hopes of convincing her to pose for it I painted this for her birthday. You will notice the title and that there are only five roses, her being the sixth. It does not seem that it was convincing enough.

"Explosion in the Shy"

Ink

11" x 17" watercolor paper

Yes another sunset picture. Expect more. Many times a sunset looks like an explosion of color in the sky. That's where I got the idea for this painting. I chose not to do the reflection in the water for often in our minds the water is blue even if its not.

"Jackson Yacht Club"
Watercolor and pencil

11.5" x 18" watercolor paper

Its an iconic image on the Ross Barnett, how could I not paint it. It is also where many of the sail boats that bring color to the water depart from.

"Racing the Wind"
Ink

11" x 17" watercolor paper

I saw these two sail boats one day. I'm not sure if it was a race or not, but I like to think it was.  I saw this and thought it was a great scene for an old magazine ad. I then thought back to some of the magazines before my time and how a lot of the ads were inked art, so I decided to paint this in that style the best I could remember the way that art looked.

"Clich`e Cemetery"

Pencil

9" x 12" sketch paper

I have always found the sights at a cemetery interesting. When I first moved to the Jackson, Ms. area I found this arch in a cemetery down town. One day at lunch I went there and sketched this. I changed it up a little to make it creepier.
